Research, development and implementation of different methods of coking box repair have made it possible to define the optimal method — ceramic welding. It helps to recover the initial form of refractory brickwork using materials of similar composition and properties.
All of that is possible due to some special features of the technology:
-
Lack of destructive impact on masonry while covering, which occurs during moist and half-dry guniting;
-
High stability of recovered sectors due to similar chemical composition, crystal structure and physical properties of repair material and refractory masonry material;
-
Work without shutting down the production for a long time which prevents coke losses;
-
Formation of common crystal structure at the interfaces between masonry and built-up mass;
-
Repair of different masonry types at any spot of coking box including partial resurfacing.
Hot repair of refractory masonry in industrial furnaces using ceramic welding differs from other methods. Its specific feature consists in filling the damaged masonry with refractory elements melted by combustion of mixture fuel components.
This applied material is similar to fire-brick in crystal structure and physical/chemical properties. When the melt hardens it forms ceramic bond between the masonry material and coating.
